A generally popular dental care method is cosmetic dentistry teeth whitening which refers to the removal of the brown and yellow stain covering the teeth. Among the ways to improve the color of one’s teeth through teeth whitening are: chemical whitening, mild acid whitening, abrasive teeth brightening and the newest technique, laser teeth whitening.

People are cautioned, however, on depending too much on these kinds of treatments as they could cause incremental damage to the gums and jaw bone in the long run.

Teeth whitening, being one of the most desired procedures in the practice of dentistry is also one of the most available and easiest to perform. Some dental clinics offer up to nine shades of tooth color. However, this in itself is not necessary as two shades lighter than the original one would usually do.

Currently, there is no singular standard when it comes to cosmetic dentistry teeth whitening. The most common however is the Vita shade guide. This teeth color guide is subdivided into varieties of shade ranges: brown, reddish brown, grey and reddish grey. The level of darkness also ranges into four categories which is referred to as A, B, C and D.

Unknown to most, not all of our teeth are of uniform shades. Typically, the molars tend to be darker than the rest, and so are the eye teeth. The front teeth are usually the whitest as they are the ones that receive maximum attention when it comes to brushing and dental hygiene. They are also the ones which are always exposed to teeth whitening formulas in the market not to mention the front teeth are the ones which are constantly checked. This is, of course, due to the fact that they are the face of the biting organs of the human body.

Before deciding to undergo cosmetic dentistry teeth whitening, the goal of each person should be to maintain optimum pearliness of one’s teeth, unlike those shown on TV. Teeth should look, as much as possible, natural. There is a vast difference between white teeth and healthy teeth. A strong coated enamel tooth is slightly ivory-colored while a weak one, which is the one overly treated, is pale white and lacks melanin that strengthens bones and causes color.

To determine how white your teeth could become after a cosmetic dentistry teeth whitening, it is imperative to consult a dentist first. Your teeth structure as well as your gene pool will determine the optimum whiteness of your teeth. Prior to consultation, consumers should refrain from purchasing over-the-counter teeth whiteners that are readily available in the market to bleach their teeth as this could lead to gradual teeth and gum deterioration.

More and more people nowadays are into cosmetic dentistry procedures especially tooth whitening. Tooth Whitening is the process of whitening or bleaching the teeth. Back in the old days, it was done by using baking soda, which is still actually recommended by some dentists to maintain good gums and to prevent stained teeth. Today, there are several ways to whiten teeth.

First is by using home kits which can be bought over the counter or can be provided by a dentist. These home kits usually contain gels and strips. Teeth whitening pastes are used around 2-3 times a day. The gels and strips are used overnight or for several hours during the day for about a month.

Second is by visiting the dentist. It is the fastest and safest way to whiten your teeth. Instead of waiting a month to get results, you can just visit your dentist and sit on a chair for around 40 minutes per session for several times and you’re done. Gels will be used as well but they are applied with heat treatments or laser bleaching. This will give you great results fast and the effect will last longer than any other ways of tooth whitening. Also, there’s no follow up treatment required afterwards.

Last is by using teeth whitening toothpaste. This has been proven to work. However, this also depends on the bearer of the teeth if he or she is eager to work for his or her own tooth whitening. I mean, teeth whitening toothpaste does work, but so should you.

Why are there many people into tooth whitening? Well, most people want to keep their teeth white and shiny because stained teeth look ugly and can affect overall appearance and personality. There are many reasons why teeth lose their whiteness. One, there are people who are just unlucky to be born with it. It depends on the genes. Smoking, coffee, medications, and even soft drinks can cause stains. Aging can also cause teeth to get dark.

Teeth whitening can be the best thing that can happen to people with stained teeth, we also need to know that it has some restrictions and warnings as well. First, it is not recommended during pregnancy and breastfeeding and prolonged bleaching can lead to severe irritation in the teeth and gums.

Some people who use Teeth whitening products at home do not pay much attention to the correct usage. You need to follow the correct procedures on how to use these products. These teeth whitening products are harmless unless used incorrectly. So before you start any procedure on whitening your teeth, make sure you get as much information as you can to make sure you do it right. GP
